The short version: we only collect what we need to get village jobs done, we show as little as possible publicly, and we'll remove your details whenever you ask.

Who we are

Cuxton.app is run by Daniel Nethersole, who is the data controller for the personal information on this site. You can contact him at hello@cuxton.app.

What we collect

  • Your report: what needs doing, the details you give, where it is (a description and, if you add one, a map pin) and any photos.
  • Your name, and your email address if you choose to give it.
  • A cookie on your device that remembers which reports you made, so you can see them again without your private link.
  • Your IP address, used briefly to stop spam and limit how often the form can be sent.
  • For our admins only: their name, email address, sign-in sessions and any passkeys they add.

We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't track you around the web.

What's shown publicly

Nothing is public until an admin has checked it. After that, everyone can see:

  • the title, details and kind of job, and how it's progressing
  • where it is and any photos, unless you switched on Private location
  • your first name, unless you switched on Private location

Your email address is never shown. We remove the hidden location data that phones store in photos before we save them. Admins may edit a report to take out anything that identifies someone.

Why we use it

We use your information to run Cuxton.app and get the jobs reported here done. That's our legitimate interest as a community service, and we think it's one you'd expect. If you give us your email, we use it to send you a private link to your report and updates about it. You can stop those emails at any time with the link at the bottom of each one.

Who we share it with

  • The council or a contractor, when they're needed to do a job. We share the details they need, which can include the location and photos even if you made the location private. We only pass on your name or contact details if the job can't be done without them, and we'll ask you first.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts the site, stores the data and photos, sends our emails and runs the spam check on the report form.
  • OpenStreetMap and Bunny Fonts: your browser loads map pictures and the site's font from them, so they see your IP address, as with any website.

BookingNinja.io pays for some jobs through its neighbourhood improvement fund. It doesn't use your information for its own business or marketing. We never sell your information.

How long we keep it

Reports and their photos stay on the site so the village can see what's been done. You can ask us to remove your report, a photo, your name or your email address at any time, and we will. Reports we decide not to publish are kept only so we can deal with any questions about them.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Email hello@cuxton.app and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
